Cushman & Wakefield | Stevenson’s Student Integration Plan
Over the last year, Cushman & Wakefield | Stevenson has been developing a student integration plan to create meaningful student placement opportunities that add additional value to team members and students alike.
In 2024, Cushman & Wakefield | Stevenson hosted over 20 students from 7 post-secondary institutions for time periods ranging from 2 weeks to 4 months. Some of these work placements were a mandatory part of the students’ academic programs, while other programs were optional for students to apply into.
These students were placed in various departments across our company, including:
- 19 students in our Business Solutions department
- 3 students in our Accounting and Finance department
- 3 students in our Marketing and Communications department
One of our students who was placed in our Business Solutions department transitioned into a full-time employee and has been a great addition to our Business Solutions team.
Benefits for Both Students and Employees
Student work placements are a fantastic opportunity to give post-secondary students experience working in an office environment and apply their skills to real-life scenarios outside the classroom. We take great pride in playing a part in helping shape the next generation of professionals by creating meaningful learning experiences for them during their time with our team.
Nefisat, who was part of the University of Manitoba’s Applied Business Analysis program, stated, “My work experience at Cushman & Wakefield | Stevenson was enriching and professionally rewarding. I had the opportunity to apply and enhance my technical and analytical skills in a supportive and collaborative environment. The hands-on tasks and meaningful projects provided a solid foundation for my career development. I appreciated the mentorship and open communication, which made my time here not only productive but also enjoyable. This experience has significantly boosted my confidence in handling real-world challenges.”
Student work placements are also an excellent opportunity to support our permanent team members. Students help increase our team’s productivity and allow for a greater focus to be placed on key initiatives that drive our business and client goals forward.
“Our students add immense value to the teams they support, and their work complements our commitment to continuous improvement for our entire team,” said Maddie Whitla, Vice-President, Human Resources
Working with student hires is also more than an opportunity for students to get valuable workplace experience and to spread our team’s workload – Hiring students also provides members of our team with the opportunity to develop leadership skills by leading and supporting these students.
Continuing Our Progress in 2025
As we begin 2025, we have already welcomed 10 students supporting multiple departments in our organization, including Valuation & Advisory, Commercial Property Management, Multi-Family, Accounting, and Business Solutions with more to come throughout the year. We look forward to continuing to develop our student integration plan and welcoming more students so we can continue to learn from their unique individual perspectives and provide them with a remarkable workplace experience.
