Stevenson Advisors takes confidently very seriously. Due to the sensitive nature of our business, we believe that it is paramount that our client’s privacy is both honoured and guaranteed.
Firstly, Stevenson Advisors uses a protected server. All of our files are backed up and encrypted on a private network that meets the highest security standards.
Secondly, we do not share any information with any outside sources, including real estate professionals, municipal departments or legal professionals (unless legally required to do so). Our reports are sent to the client and the client only.
Thirdly, each appraiser at Stevenson Advisors follows CUSPAP (Canadian Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice) administered by the Appraisal Institute of Canada.
The section of CUSPAP that deals specifically with confidentiality is Section 5.10 under Disclosure.
Headline goes here if applicable
5.10.1 members pledge to uphold the confidential nature of the Member/client relationship
5.10.2 A Member must not disclose the analyses, opinions or conclusion in an assignment to anyone other than: those parties specifically authorized by the client to receive such data; third parties, when the Member is required to do so by due process of law; or an authorized Committee of the Institute.
Stevenson Advisors strongly advise its clients to hold the appraisal reporting confidently as well. Landlords are not required to share appraisal reports with any outside party, including tax assessment authorities. Stevenson Advisors recommends withholding this information as no party other than the named client has a right to rely on the appraisal.
We would be happy to answer any questions you may have about confidentiality. Please feel free to contact Aaron DeGroot, Vice President, Stevenson Advisors at 204-934-6435.
